  • Orally, Java tea is taken as "irrigation therapy" (where it is used as a mild diuretic along with copious fluid intake to increase urine flow), for bacterial and inflammatory diseases of the lower urinary tract, renal gravel, and liver and gallbladder complaints. It is also used orally for bladder and kidney disorders, gallstones, gout, and rheumatim.

Contraindication(s)
Java tea is thought to have diuretic properties. Theoretically, due to these potential diuretic effects, Java tea might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium. The dose of lithium might need to be decreased.
EDEMA: Java tea is contraindicated for use as "irrigation therapy" in cases of edema due to limited heart or kidney function.
